U.S. NAVY VETERAN- SHUNQUITA “QUE” NEAL

About This Project

Chef Shunquita “Que” Neal

Born on July 31, 1978 in Atlanta, GA, Shunquita “Chef Que” Neal worked as a US Navy Chief Logistics Specialist and counselor before turning her sights to cooking. She established herself as a chef and launched a number of businesses that included her own catering company.

After graduating Westlake High School in Atlanta, she went on to join the U.S. Navy, specializing in Supply Chain Management and Global Logistics.  While serving, she attended Columbia University’s School of Psychology and Capella University, earning her Masters in Marriage & Family Therapy.  It was the love of her eclectic culinary experiences while serving overseas that Neal began to develop her passion for authentic cooking.  She was also inspired by how her Grandma Mamie and her fiancé’s mother, LeeAnn crafted meals well into their later years.  In preparation for retirement, she eventually decided that she wanted to pursue her passion as a Caterer and Restaurateur.

With roots in the heart of Atlanta and ventures in the Bayous of New Orleans, Neal has created the perfect fusion between the deep south and rich creole authentic dishes.  From her aromatic seafood gumbo to her sweet Momma LeeAnn’s traditional Meemaw’s Banana Pudding, her dishes will surely give the “foodie” in you permission to indulge in a taste of the south right here in Maryland.

Neal is soon to be wed to Creative Director and Web Designer, Dedric in 2020.  They have 5 children between them, Ashley, Nia, Darius, and twins Danielle and DJ.

Chef Que’s motto is: “Some of life’s heaviest problems can be solved over a warm blanket, a good pot of gumbo, and heartfelt conversation.”
